31st October 2007

The Jannes most fresh comments by the seasonal start.

Here a pair of news shortly before the start … The summertime is concluded now, with regard to the speed runs and also ski jumping. From the speed runs so much that the season had class for the team and also for the driver a sensational start in the TOP-Fuel and was for the future an important experience. My order in the EM class was 9. (not very intoxicating), but we had good starts and results.
The best resultat was with the "quarter mile" in Sweden, Mantorp: the time from 4.88sec. at a final speed of about 450 km / h. From the jumping the summer was a little double-columned.

Beginning of the summer even felt too light everything.

I cannot remember, when the jumping would have run in the training season so well, how beginning of the summer. Then as a contrast end of the summer was really heavy, this time was one of the most difficult times which I have experienced, special what it is about the technology. The physical training unities were very good the whole summer, and I can feel the effect of course well.

Now the feeling catches for the coming season also fit and I already wait for the first snowy flakes, how a little boy!
If the basic conditions are right, can be done the first snowy jump in KW 45. Of the suitable places would be Ruka/Rovaniemi/Vuokatti? It hangs together with where we will have the first snow...

So, then nothing like snow have and we look spot and I announce myself shortly before the WC start and report how me, besides, feels!
A lot of strength and joy in the darkness of the autumn, it becomes brighter again!

Greetings Janne

Knee injury prevents Janne Ahonen from taking part in Olympic team event

”My leg still hurts like hell, there’s no denying it. We have reached the decision that I will not jump”, Ahonen told Helsingin Sanomat. Finnish team physician Harri Hakkarainen still had hopes after Saturday’s MRI scan that Ahonen might be able to continue his participation in the Games.
“For me it was clear more or less from the beginning that with an injured knee one has no business going to the hill, let alone reap any success. Clowning around in the Olympic Games serves no purpose”, Ahonen said.
Ahonen, a five-time World Champion, hurt his left knee when he failed the landing of his 128.5-metre jump during the Saturday trial round for the large hill individual event.
Ahonen, who is one of the most successful ski-jumpers of all time, has never succeeded in securing an Olympic gold medal. With only two team silvers on his Olympic CV, Ahonen decided to take part in the individual large hill in his fifth Olympic Games, but pulled out after the first round.
“In retrospect I should not have taken part even in the first round”, Ahonen commented.
“The injury itself is what worries me. I failed a competition but that is normal. It is part of the sport. I just hope the trauma will not affect too many of the remaining competitions this season.”
