We still have a little summer…

The summer season is with regard to the competitons. Before a pair of weeks started of the Sommer-GP in Central Europe.
I was present personally in the first four competitions; Hinterzarten (D), Courchevell (Fr), Pragelato (I) and Einsiedeln (CH).
Here these are about immediately many summer competitions where I have taken part in last summers. Ordinarily there is a competition per summer.

The training season has begun of course already at the beginning of May and just now is the hardest. One has seen this also with the good jumps. These were. from the quality, very swaying, it were present good jump, however, also absolutely miserably. The placings were appropriate and the best result was 8-th rank in Pragelato.

On the last weekend it went on with the GP in Poland, in Zakokpane, but on these competitions I have renounced voluntarily and have rather trained at home. The next weekend would have to do it quite possibly his on the big ski jump in Lahti to jump. It would be good if one thinks of the rest of the summer!

So we still have summer and I must still slave a lot! It is not sure yet whether I take part in the finale GP. The most important is that one gets this boy here on regard of the coming snowy season fit!

A nice rest summer for everything and to her will be able to read my next comments in autumn!

Greetings Janne

Knee injury prevents Janne Ahonen from taking part in Olympic team event

”My leg still hurts like hell, there’s no denying it. We have reached the decision that I will not jump”, Ahonen told Helsingin Sanomat. Finnish team physician Harri Hakkarainen still had hopes after Saturday’s MRI scan that Ahonen might be able to continue his participation in the Games.
“For me it was clear more or less from the beginning that with an injured knee one has no business going to the hill, let alone reap any success. Clowning around in the Olympic Games serves no purpose”, Ahonen said.
Ahonen, a five-time World Champion, hurt his left knee when he failed the landing of his 128.5-metre jump during the Saturday trial round for the large hill individual event.
Ahonen, who is one of the most successful ski-jumpers of all time, has never succeeded in securing an Olympic gold medal. With only two team silvers on his Olympic CV, Ahonen decided to take part in the individual large hill in his fifth Olympic Games, but pulled out after the first round.
“In retrospect I should not have taken part even in the first round”, Ahonen commented.
“The injury itself is what worries me. I failed a competition but that is normal. It is part of the sport. I just hope the trauma will not affect too many of the remaining competitions this season.”
